My art thrives at the intersection of art and science, where abstractions bloom with botanical, aquatic, and microscopic motifs. I find endless inspiration in the elegant intricacy of nature's patterns, repeating across diverse scales, from the single-celled amoeba to sprawling ecosystems. Blending images from the real world and imagination, my art celebrates nature's beauty and complexity.
Acrylic paints serve as my primary medium, but I embrace the versatility of drawing and photography as well. My creative process often begins with capturing the details of nature's through photographs and sketches during my daily encounters. These captured moments become springboards for abstracting repeating patterns into lines, shapes, and colors, forming the foundation of my own visual language.
With a BFA in photography from the University of Michigan and an MA/MFA in photography and painting from Illinois State University, I've spent over 30 years immersed in the arts. My career has spanned education, gallery management, photo curation, and portfolio review, fostering artistic growth and engagement in others.
In 2015, I returned to my Michigan to dedicate myself fully to my own artistic practice.
